TUR bladder surgery (transurethral resection) is a method that refers to the closed method of surgery of diseases in the bladder. With this method, which is frequently used in urology, resection (scraping) of the masses in the bladder is performed by entering the urinary tract under spinal or general anesthesia without making an incision in the body.
It is the gold standard method especially in the treatment and follow-up of bladder tumors. Superficial bladder tumors that have not progressed to the muscle layer of the bladder are treated with this method. A urethral catheter (probe) is usually left in place for 1 day after surgery. The operation time is approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the tumor. Hospitalization is 1 day.
