Types of Anesthesia:

General anesthesia

General anesthesia prevents the patient from losing consciousness during surgery, provides comfort to the patient during surgery by eliminating pain, and facilitates surgical intervention by suppressing reflex activity and providing muscle relaxation. With these effects, the aim of general anesthesia is to provide appropriate surgical conditions. However, it is also the anesthesiologist’s duty to maintain the patient’s health and safety during surgery.

Regional anesthesia

It is used in various operations, especially in childbirth. Spinal and epidural anesthesia and combined spinal epidural anesthesia methods can also be applied in normal delivery and cesarean section. Thanks to these applications called regional anesthesia, the patient does not feel any pain even though he/she is conscious.

Spinal anesthesia

Although it is mostly used in birth operations, it is preferred in surgical procedures performed at waist level and below. It is a type of anesthesia that does not cause any pain or suffering during a caesarean section and allows the mother to hold her baby immediately after the birth. An injection is made into the epidural space in the lumbar region, numbness is felt below the chest and the patient feels no pain. At birth, the mother can hold her baby consciously.

Epidural anesthesia

In this type of anesthesia, a thin tube called a catheter is injected into the epidural space and numbness is provided and the pain sensation is completely suppressed in about 15 minutes. It is also used to prevent labor pains from being felt. It is also used in normal labor and caesarean section.

Combined spinal epidural anesthesia

Both anesthesia methods are applied together. Epidural anesthesia is performed first with spinal injection and then with the help of a catheter. It is also a method frequently preferred by expectant mothers. Since the mother is still conscious after delivery, she can hold her baby painlessly and painlessly.

Local anesthesia

It is often confused with regional anesthesia. During tooth extraction, circumcision, various dermatological procedures and aesthetic interventions, only the area where the procedure will be performed is numbed with various anesthetics.
